
Over 600 people have died of Cholera in Haiti so far (with another 10,000 people suffering from the infection). What ever happened to the Roosevelt Corollary to the Monroe Doctrine? I realize that the language of said doctrine limits the US's role as 'police of the western hemisphere' to instances where a western nation can't pay its debts (and is a cheap way of saying we'll protect you in the in the interest of colonialism and the spirit of manifest destiny) but c'mon son... Treating an epidemic is not trivial, but there was substantial foresight of this present cholera outbreak in the wake of the January earthquake. Its almost too ironic that G20 business summit is going on whilst pandemonium has broken out in the poorest country on this side of the globe...
